August: Unexpected Classics - Familiar Grapes, Surprising Addresses
Think you know Chardonnay? Cabernet? Pinot Noir? Think again! This month's tasting explores familiar grapes in unexpected places, from the fog-cooled coast of Santa Barbara and the high desert of Baja California to Australia's Margaret River and the rugged shores of Liguria. It's a fresh look at classic varieties - a reminder that where a wine is grown can matter just as much as what's in the glass.

What We're Pouring
Across twenty pours, you'll discover familiar grapes expressing themselves in entirely different ways: Chardonnay from the fog-cooled coast of Santa Barbara alongside a leaner, brighter expression from Monterey, or a structured Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia's Margaret River with a bold Baja California blend grown in the high desert of Valle de Guadalupe. Along the way, three distinct Pinot Noirs from Willamette Valley, Sonoma, and Santa Barbara County will make the case that "Pinot" is really shorthand for "it depends where you plant it."
